Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has Saturday joined hundreds of people who are mourning the departed Revival Christian Ministries senior pastor Augustine Yiga who passed on early this week.
Pastor Yiga’s body was today (Saturday) morning taken to his Church in Kawaala ahead of the burial scheduled for tomorrow Sunday, November 1, 2020.
Eulogizing the late Pastor, Lukwago said that Yiga made the Kawaala community what it is today and he touched thousands of lives of those who sought help from him and the church.
“It is hard to imagine Kawaala without Pastor Yiga. Just at the age of 44, Yiga impacted on lives of many and supported others just like a tree trunk supports its branches. All this was achieved by an individual who never had a Theology Degree,” Lukwago said.
The Lord Mayor asked Pastor Jjengo, Yiga’s son, to jealously guard his deceased father’s property even when it seems nearly impossible to recover from this death. He added that most profound losses are survivable and the world now looks at Pastor Jjengo’s ability to transform the same into positives.
Lukwago also bemoaned those criticizing and judging the late, emphasizing that no one has a right to judge the dead.
“There is only one judge of the living and the dead. Even in transgressions, we are duty bound to restore in gentleness.”
As someone who was raised from Kasubi and Kawaala, Lukwago pledged his presence whenever reached out to.
