Ugandans can now apply for passports digitally using the e-application portal.
The platform which was a work in progress for along time was finally opened by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Uganda Revenue Authority.
This comes at a time when the government launched the electronic passport what many refer to as Electronic passports.
“URA has completed and gone live with the e-Passport system of directorate of citizenship and immigration. This is the second after the e – visa interface” read a statement from URA.
Ugandans can freely apply for passport and related services on https://www.passports.go.ug/”.
“After filling out the form you will get a payment registration number and proceed to pay up on payment you can book an appointment with them on the same platform. The system id also interfaced with the NIRA system to verify that particulars match”.
This will help reduce the endless application steps one had to take to get a passport since they can now do it at their own comfort zones.
The new platform just like any other online service favors people who can read as they follow the steps while they also agree on the terms and conditions that come with it before they can enter their details into the system.
