Members of Parliament on Monday paid tribute to a fallen colleague in the 6th and 7th parliament, Hon. Edward Lorika Athiyo.
Athiyo who served as Minister of Trade in Gen. Tito Okello Lutwa’s government succumbed to diabetes and chronic pneumonia on Friday.
In 2012, the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) stalwart and former South Karamoja legislator was decorated with the Golden Jubilee medal.
During Gen. Idi Amin’s tumultuous regime, Athiyo was Uganda’s ambassador to Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire) from 1971 to 1973.
A motion to honor him will be moved at a designated date as there was no sitting today.
