The Deputy Speaker, Jacob Oulanyah, has adjourned the House until 30th January 2018 to allow for the processing of the Budget Framework Paper (BFP).
The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development in accordance with the Public Finance Management Act laid on table, the BFP on 20th December 2017.
“In accordance with our Rules of Procedure, the Speaker committed the BFP to the Budget Committee for consideration and to each sectoral committee for review,” said Oulanyah.
During the sitting of the House on Thursday, Oulanyah pointed out that the sectoral committees should start reviewing their various sectors in the Budget Framework Paper.
“It is expected that the sectoral committees will present their reports to the Budget Committee not later than 20th January 2018,” said Oulanyah.
He also said that the Budget Committee is expected to scrutinize the Budget Framework Paper and the reports from the sectoral committees and present to the House for approval by 01st February 2018.
“In light of the above, Parliament sittings have been adjourned until Tuesday, 30th January 2018 for this process,” said Oulanyah.
The Deputy Speaker also directed that given the timelines, all meetings of standing committees are suspended.
