At least five staff members at Parliament have tested positive for Civid 19.
The cases were confirmed from a random testing which was conducted last week according to Mrs Helen Kawesa, Parliament’s Assistant Director Communication and Public Affairs.
“The affected staff have been informed of their status and referred to the Ministry of Health. They are now undergoing treatment in the recommended health facilities,” Kawesa revealed in a statement.
As such, she said, the precincts of Parliament will be disinfected tomorrow, Saturday, 05 September 2020.
“The numbers of staff will be further scaled down with immediate effect. The other staff who were in contact with the affected have been identified and advised to stay home in self- quarantine. If they develop any signs and symptoms, they have been advised to contact the Parliament doctor immediately who will then liaise with the Ministry of Health to have them tested.
In today’s results released by the Health Ministry, a total of 65 cases were confirmed along with 2 deaths.
