Parents Refuse to Testify in Daughter’s Defilement Case; Court Orders Their Arrest

High Court judge Wilson Kwesiga has issued an order for the arrest of a couple that abandoned a court case in which their 2-year-old daughter was allegedly defiled by her uncle.

This case was coming up for hearing this week, but Nabbosa Salama the State Attorney informed court that the witnesses who include the victim’s parents had lost interest in the matter.

“My Lord I am seeking an adjournment to be able to consult with the DPP who is currently outside the country,” the state attorney prayed.

In response, Justice Kwesiga, clearly agitated, noted that this is a criminal matter and not a civil one in which the witnesses can choose to act as the wish.

“This is a very serious matter in which you and I have been made to look fools,” the judge said.

Kwesiga therefore ordered the arrest of the parents of the child (names withheld) and ordered them to present the victim in the next court sitting.

“I order for the arrest of these two parents and any Police officer who will not effect this arrest will face it rough ” warned the judge

In this matter, prosecution alleges that on 12th June 2017 at around 2 pm at Kazinga, Kasangati town council Wakiso district, Andebo Disan defiled a two-year-old girl.
