Drama ensued this morning at Bushuro Primary School in Kabale district as angry parents stormed the school compound and chased away the head teacher over the pupils’ poor performance in last year’s PLE exams.
The parents numbering more than 30 stormed the school and found the head teacher in his office and forced him out.
These accused him of absenteeism and failure to discipline absent teachers, which they said was the reason for the school’s poor performance.
Bushuro Primary School had no candidate in first grade; four candidates came in second grade, seven in third grades, and one in fourth grades while one candidate was ungraded.
The parents shouted on top of their voices accusing Byaruhanga of being a non-performer.
Led by the vice chairperson of the Parents Teachers Association Evelyn Arinda, these demanded the immediate transfer of Byaruhanga.
They said on several occasions they had written to the district authorities asking for the transfer of the head teacher but nothing has been done.
The confusion paralyzed classes at the school as many pupils were seen going back home as early as 11am while others were playing during class hours.
Deus Byaruhanga, the school head teacher when reached by our reporter declined to talk.
The Kabale Municipality Principle Education Officer Mathias Akeeka says he has not received any complaint from the parents about the head teacher. He has however, pledged to follow up the matter following the incident.
