Oulanya to UWOPA: Stop Politicizing Women Affairs

The Deputy speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanya has advised the parliamentary women under their umbrella organization UWOPA to always refrain from politicizing women issues if they are to achieve their objectives and see success.

This, approved he said as he met the UWOPA executive chaired by MP. Monica Amoding to familiarize him about the key issues the association is intending to prioritize in this 10th parliament as they also sought for his support.

Among the key issues to be fronted back for discussion according to Amoding, is the discussion of marriage and divorce bill that turned contentious in the 9th parliament, maternal health that remains a challenge to the country, girl child issues including the fight of early marriage and drop out of school among others.

She asked Deputy Speaker Oulanya to always give them counsel, advise nd adequate platform whenever such issues are brought to the floor of parliament as this will help the vulnerable groups, women and children helped realize their dreams. BH1-24AUG16 (Amoding)

Meanwhile, in his response, the Deputy Speaker urged women parliamentarians to always maintain their focus on the mentioned issues, not politicize them and remain unanimous when discussing them
as he assured them of his support.
