Onyango to Face Odongkara in CAF Champions League

There will be a battle for Uganda’s national team goalkeepers in the CAF champions league after the draws held in Cairo, medical Egypt on Wednesday.

Africa’s reigning best footballer Dennis Onyango who plies his trade at Mamelodi Sundowns will face off with Robert Odongkara who features for Ethiopia’s St. George.

The other Ugandan footballer at St. George is Yassar Mugerwa and has formerly played in South Africa at Orlando Pirates.

Mamelodi Sundowns and St. George were pitted in the same group in the draws held on Wednesday and will be joined by AS Vita from DR Congo and Esperance from Tunisia.

The two shot stoppers are main starters for either club with Onyango playing a crucial role for the defending champions just like Odongkara for the Ethiopian giants.

Mamelodi Sundowns eliminated KCCA FC from Uganda to storm the group stage while St. George on the other hand ejected Congo’s AC Leopards.

As Vita and Esperance who complete group C eliminated Horoya and Gambia Ports Authority respectively.
