Onyango Named Among Best Goalkeepers of 2018

Uganda Cranes skipper Dennis Masinde Onyango continues to prove that he is one of the best shot stoppers in the World.

Currently regarded by many as Africa’s finest, the gangly goalkeeper has kept etching his name among the best globally.

On Thursday, Onyango who plies his trade with South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns was named on the list of the top goalkeepers in the world by International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

Onyango is joint 16 on the list alongside Russia’s Igor Akinfeev, Guillermo Ochoa from Mexico and Yann Sommer from Switzerland.

It should be noted that in 2016 when Onyango was named the best player in Africa and helped Uganda return to Africa Cup of Nations after 39 years, he was named 10th on the list.

He is the only African goalkeeper in the top twenty.

Just last week, Onyango was nominated on the short list for the CAF 2018 best player after helping Uganda return to AFCON without conceding a goal.
