Onyango Earns Double Nomination in the Caf Player of the Year Award

Uganda Cranes goalie Dennis Onyango has been nominated for the 2016 CAF player of the year awards both in the general category and the Africa based player.

The gangly keeper will compete with 29 other players including four time winner Samuel Etoo who plies his trade at Turkish side Antalyaspor.

The other notable nominees include Algeria and Leicester duo Ismail Slimani and Riyadh Mahrez, information pills Mohammed El Neny (Arsenal, approved Egypt), price Ahmed Musa (Leicester and Nigeria), Kenya captain Victor Wanyama, Tanzania skipper Mbwana Ali Samatta (Genk-Belgium) among others.

Onyango was also nominated in the category for best player who plies his trade inside the African continent together with 29 other hopefuls.

They include his teammates (at Sundowns) Khama Billiat, Hlomoho Kekana, Yannick Zakri,  Keegan Dolly as well as South Africa and Kaizer Chiefs first choice keeper Itumelang Khune.

Onyango was an integral part of the Cranes squad that qualified to the Africa cup of nations after a 38 year wait.

He also won the a double with Sundowns before being crowned best goalkeeper in the Premier soccer league.
