Denis Onyango won his sixth Premier Soccer League title in South Africa after guiding Mamelodi Sundowns to the 2018-19 glory on Saturday.
The Uganda Cranes shot stopper was named man of the match for his heroics as the side held on to beat Free State Stars 1-0.
The Brazilians were dealt a blow in the 40th minute when their lead striker Gaston Sirino was stretchered off due to an injury.
However, that turned to be a blessing in disguise as his replacement Phakamani Mahlambi came on and scored just after four minutes.
The win took Sundowns to 59 points after thirty games, two ahead of Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic’s Orlando Pirates.
The title took Sundowns to a record nine. They previously won in the 1997–98, 1998–99, 1999–00, 2005–06, 2006–07, 2013–14, 2015–16 and 2017–18.
Onyango has won it now six times in 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10 while at Super Sport United and 2013-14 and 2015–16 at Mamelodi Sundowns.
