Police in Kyotera district is investigating a deadly fight in which supporters Hon. Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo clashed with those of his opponent identified as John Paul Mpalanyi.
At least one person was killed in the fracas.
Hon.Kasolo who is the State Minister for Micro Finance is also the incumbent Member of Parliament for Kyotera County in Kyotera district.
According to Police, clashes erupted on Friday at around 4pm when the two candidates organised rallies in Nabigasa sub county, in Nakatongo village.
“It’s alleged the supporters of Mpalanyi attacked the supporters of Hon. Kasolo. FFU personnel commanded by the DPC Kyotera intervened together with the guards of Kasolo and in the struggle one person was shot dead by a stray bullet while another one sustained bullet wounds,” Police said.
Several suspects including four private guards attached to Mpalanyi were arrested and detained at Kyotera Central Police station.
Witnesses who spoke to Chimpreports said scores of people were injured in this clash and are currently receiving treatment at various medical centres.
