One person has been confirmed dead and 8 others have sustained injuries in an accident that happened Tuesday morning at about 5:30am after a bus belonging to Uzuri Bus Company overturned along Gulu-Juba highway in Amuru district
The bus, registration number UAJ 880R, got an accident when it lost control and knocked dead a motorcyclist before overturning, police said.
The accident occurred along Gulu-Juba highway at Keyo trading center, which is 14 kilometres from Gulu town.
According to Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa region police spokesman, “the bus knocked a motor cyclist Okello Micheal Orom who died on spot.”
Okema told ChimpReports that the bus driver lost control, hit the motorcyclist which made the bus to overturn.
The accident left 8 passengers injured who have been rushed to St Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Gulu district for treatment.
“It’s a festive period and we appeal to members of public to follow traffic rules and regulations and avoid over speeding,” Okema appealed.
The bus driver identified as Robert Laziko is being held at Gulu police station pending investigation.
