Police in Katwe have arrested a one Bunkedeko Medi for breaking in and robbing the home of Dr. Alia Godfrey, a resident of Katwe- Makyindye over the weekend.
According to the Police spokesperson Fred Enanga, Medi, together with his gang attacked the said residence with machetes that were used to inflict injuries on Alia and other members of the household with an intention of killing them.
“Bunkedeko Medi attacked with a gang, he was just released from Kitalya recently but he started where he had stopped, robbed Dr. Alia Godfrey’s home in Katwe Makyindye, Nankyinga Zone,” Enanga said.
Enanga added: “They inflicted injuries on his family, Godfrey is currently receiving treatment. They stole electronic gadgets like flat screens and mobile phones.”
In the same vein, Enanga stated that another gang attacked Namubiru Prossy’s home, a resident of Luwagu, Dioplomatic zone in Makyindye with an intention of robbing her.
“It was fortunate that the neighbors were still awake and got alerted when they happened to hear the noise coming from the padlock as the thieves tried to open,” he said.
Security managed to arrest Sebulibe Cassim who later died on the way to the hospital due to injuries sustained from the mob beatings.
“The public assaulted him seriously, by the time we rescued him and took him to Mulago, he died on his way because he was badly injured. The other two members of the gang are still at large,” Enanga said.
“Investigations are still ongoing as we try to track down the rest of the suspects,” he added.
