With the Uganda Premier League 2017/18 kickoff beckoning, several teams have already begun preparations ahead of what is anticipated to be a competitive campaign.
Last week, Kirinya Jinja SS, Maroons football club and BUL FC all began their preseason programme.
And several others are joining this week. Key among them is Vipers and Onduparaka FC.
Vipers SC finished 3rd last season and ended the campaign ‘trophyless’.
The target this season is to win the league according to club patron Lawrence Mulindwa who warned that if anyone is not ready for task, he should quit as early as possible.
Head coach, Jorge Miguel Da Costa met the players on Saturday and relayed his programme to them.
The Venoms start training on Monday at St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende. New recruits are also expected to join the rest of the team.
These include; Tom Masiko(from KCCA FC), Brian Mukwaala (Ssingo), Yayo Lutimba (URA FC) and Taddeo Lwanga(SC Villa).
Arua based side, Onduparaka FC also commence their training today (Monday) at Greenlight stadium to prepare for the forthcoming season.
The caterpillars have been one of the busiest teams in the transfer market adding seven players to their books already.
The team had a brain storm meeting on Sunday at hill top hotel in Arua where coaches, players and key stakeholders raised several aspects.
The new players include; Nicholas Ssebwato, Rajab Kakooza, Bob Kasozi, Aggrey Kirya, Karim Nduggwa and Rashid Okocha.
Onduparaka finished 5th in their maiden season in the Uganda Premier League and will be seeking to improve on that in the next season.
