Onduparaka Football Club duo of Mohammad Shaban and Rashid Toha has this morning departed for South Africa ahead of their trials.
The two landed an invite from Premier Soccer League (PSL) side, Super Sport United to attend trials at the South African giants.
Defender Toha and striker Shaban have been instrumental in Onduparaka’s metric rise including helping the team ascend from lower divisions to the elite league.
Toha was a key figure in the Caterpillars defence and his performance has seen him earn calls on the national team.
On the other hand, Shaban needs no introduction due to his adeptness at scoring.
The reigning Fufa MVP scored 12 goals for Onduparaka last season and has also been shortlisted in the Uganda Premier League awards (MVP of the 2016/17 season).
In an interview with ChimPReports after arriving in South Africa, lanky defender said he is ready for the challenge and focused to impress.
“We have safely arrived here and thanks to God that our journey was blessed,” he said.
“It is a great opportunity for us to be here and we are ready and eager to impress in the trials,” Toha added.
The duo is under a player’s agency called Forward Zone and will be in South Africa for two weeks for trials.
If they impress, there is a possibility of permanent deals for the two players to join Super Sport United.
