Nyamityobora FC head coach James Odoch was left disappointed and furious after his side threw away a two goal lead to lose to Bright Stars FC on Wednesday.
Despite leading the game at halftime, the new league comers were a shadow of themselves in the second half and ended up losing the game 3-2.
Odoch blamed the loss to his players who he feels became complacent after leading 2-0.
” I don’t think my players maintained the mentality and focus that we started with. It is always a habit for players to switch off when they are leading like we did today and that’s why we lost the game.” said a disappointed Odoch.
The coach went ahead to lament about the chances they wasted which could have put the game beyond reach.
“At 2-0, we had more chances to stretch the lead but we did not utilise them and when they got a goal early in the second half, we started panicking.” He stated.
Patrick Gonahasa and Ibrahim Dada fired Nyamityobora FC into the lead but Bright Stars FC rallied back through Nelson Ssenkatuka, Alfred Onek and Brian Kayanja to win the game.
Asked about how he will motivate his team ahead of the coming games, Odoch indicated they will go back and reflect on the mistakes in their first two games.
” The most important thing right now is to go back to the drawing board and address our mistakes. The spirits of everyone at the club are down but we have enough time between now and our next game to make changes.”
Nyamityobora’s next game will come after the international break with the Banyakare making a trip to St.Mary’s Kitende to face defending champions Vipers SC on 20th October 2018.
A 2-0 loss to Onduparaka FC on the opening day of the season followed by a 3-2 loss to Bright Stars FC leaves Nyamityobora FC bottom of the table.
