Nyanjura Sworn In as Kampala Deputy Lord Mayor

New Kampala Deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura was on Monday sworn in at a glamorous function at City Hall.

Ms. Nyanjura replaces Sarah Kanyike who has been nominated by Presiden Museveni to be the director of gender and community development at Kampala Capital City Authority.

Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago formally presented Nyanjura to the council meeting chaired by speaker Abubaker Kawalya.

The speaker then asked that a motion to support the nomination of Nyanjura be moved and it was seconded by all councilors.

Nyanjura then took her oath and Lukwago decorated her with a mayoral gown and a golden chain.

Ms. Kanyike later handed over the keys and a handover report to Nyanjura.

In her farewell speech, Ms. Kanyike thanked God for the opportunity to serve people of Kampala and KCCA.

“I want to thank the Lord Mayor for a cordial working relationship and opportunity of growth. It has been a pleasure to work with you and the team at large. I thank you for your guidance and support,” Kanyike said.
