The Mbarara based team sealed their qualification to the top tier league after defeating rivals Kitara FC 2-1 in the top of the table clash encounter played on Thursday.
Goals from Bruhan Matovu and Robert Mukongotya were enough to confirm that Nyamityobora will play in next season’s Uganda Premier League campaign despite Kitara pulling one back through Monday.
Matovu gave James Odoch’s charges the lead a minute to the half hour mark as the home side proved dominant in the opening stages of the game.
Mukongotya who is on loan from URA FC doubled the lead early in the second half before Monday pulled one back for Kitara FC.
Victory meant Nyamityobora FC moved to 48 points in Rwenzori group eleven points ahead of second placed Kitara FC with just three games to play.
Third placed Kira United also suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Kireka United at Mandela National Stadium. Kira United remained third on 37 points, one behind Kitara FC.
In Elgon group, Paidha Black Angels’s hopes of direct qualification were held a huge blow after a 1-0 loss to Kataka FC in Mbale.
The result leaves them in second position on 34 points, three behind leaders Amuka Bright Stars FC who lost 1-0 to Agape SS. Paidha however have played two games less
Kyetume FC also failed to go past Kamuli Park with the game ending in a two all draw while Synergy FC boosted their hopes of survival with a 2-1 win against Ntinda United.
