Uganda Revenue Authority has commended National Water and Sewage Corporation (NWSC) for continuously complying in tax payment.
NWSC was praised for always remitting staff Pay As You Earn (PAYE) in time, Value Added Tax and other tax obligations of the corporation without difficult.
The URA team led by Assistant Commissioner Customs and Audit Abed Kagurire on Thursday paid a visit to NWSC at their head office in Nakasero where the team presented a token of appreciation to the NWSC team led by Executive Director, Eng. Silver Mugisha.
Speaking shortly after receiving the Token, NWSC ED Mugisha said the corporation was committed to contributing to economic development of the country
“We want to see more roads, more health services, water and sewage services and other services efficiently delivered to people of Uganda. We pay taxes to build the nation” Mugisha said
The NWSC Manager Finance and treasury Kujju Geoffrey appreciated the recognition by URA and emphasized NWSC commitment to continue paying taxes
“At the sight of the tax man, most people take off. I am proud to note that at NWSC, we welcome them because we are an institution that pays money” Kujju said
NWSC has remitted a total of Shs172b to the tax authority in the last 4 years. It is also among the top 10 tax payers in Uganda.
