NUP Reopens Vetting for Kampala Lord Mayor Flag Contenders

Following the exit of Hajji Latif Ssebagala from the Kampala Lord Mayor Race, the National Unity Platform (NUP) has reopened the race for the party flag.

Mercy Walukamba the chairperson NUP Electoral Commission announced today that the party had commenced applications for all those wishing to hold the party card.

The interested persons she said must fill and return expression of interest forms at the Party headquarters by Friday 25th September 2020 at 5pm

“Interested candidates should be Ugandans aged 18 and above, they should attach the following documents; National Identity card, UCE and UACE certificates and NUP membership cards.”

Latif Ssebagala who had secured the party flag, stepped down from the race last evening.

There had been speculation that Latif’s contender Joseph Mayanja would automatically be handed the flag.

Addressing the press today Samuel Walter Mukaaku one of Chameleon’s campaigners said they were expecting to be declared winner, now that Latif had bowed out.
