NTV Uganda Staff Tests Positive for Coronavirus

A staff of NTV Uganda has tested positive for Coronavirus, an official told ChimpReports.

This is the second case of a media practitioner testing positive for the virus in less than a week.

This past weekend, a staff of Government-owned Vision Group tested positive for Covid19.

“One of our staff working at the head office in Kampala tested positive over the weekend and the case is being handled together with and under the guidance of the Ministry of Health,” Robert Kabushenga, the company CEO, said in a statement.

ChimpReports has learned that the NTV staff who contracted COVID-19 is always in the field.

This situation has compelled the Health Ministry to warn journalists on observing health guidelines to avoid the novel virus.

“Dear Journalists, Please take caution and observe Health Ministry preventative measures,” said the Ministry publicist, Emmanuel Ainebyoona on Monday.

“The level of complacency among those covering the various activities/events is very high,” he added.

“It is unfortunate the two media houses have since registered COVID-19 cases.”

In the most difficult of times, journalism plays key roles in supporting communities around the globe.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the media disseminates critical information to keep people safe and informed, illuminate stories that bring people hope and remind them of their shared human experience.
