Ntungamo NRM Leaders Launch Group to Canvass Votes for Party flag Bearers

The NRM Secretary General Ms Justine Kasule Lumumba on Saturday inaugurated the Ntungamo NRM Action Network Association formed to canvass votes for NRM flag bearers.

Speaking at the launch at Ankole Resort in Ntungamo Municipality on Saturday, Ms Lumumba attacked the NRM-leaning independent candidates to stop pretending they love the party if they cannot step down for the flag bearers.

“It’s better to leave the party, rather than pretending that you support NRM yet you’re running as an independent against the party’s flag bearer. Don’t use the party to undermine it, stop pulling down the party, stop demeaning the party,” she said.

She hailed the youth under their Ntungamo NRM Action Network association led by Muhangi Assuman for unity.

Lumumba donated two motor cycles worth Shs8m and Shs2m to the association of 3000 youth whose patron is Rushenyi MP and candidate Mwesigwa Rukutana.

Mr Rukutana commended the youth for coming together to hunt votes for all NRM flag bearers in Ntungamo.

She also expressed worry that Gen Mugisha Muntu being a born of Ntungamo District may deny NRM and president Museveni 100% votes in the district.

“There is a trick in opposition candidates that let each of them concentrate where they come from in order to deny us 50 plus 1% which means that we shall go for a re-run, but I want you to try your level best with NRM support to lure him [Muntu] back to the bus,” Lumumba said.

“I know your candidate, your son, uncle Gen Muntu comes from here. Yes, Gen Muntu is a good man, no question about that. But when it comes to politics, he is not a presidential material we want really. He can offer leadership in other areas like ministries,” she said.
