NSSF, Dfcu Partner to Expand Social Security Services

The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has unveiled yet another service where it will be partnering with Dfcu Bank and the Agent Banking Company (ABC) to extend its services deeper.

Under this arrangement, NSSF members will be able to access social security transactions at dfcu Agents countrywide without having to visit the Fund’s offices.

The NSSF Agency Service was unveiled on Tuesday at the NSSF head offices in Kampala.

Speaking at the launch, NSSF MD Richard Byarugaba said the arrangement was in line with the fund’s objective to provide convenience to members through multiple channels.

“You are aware that today, our members can access our services across our branches, online, using mobile phones and through our call centre. This service is therefore a new addition to the channel options available to Fund members,” he said.

“This service will benefit the Fund by expanding our footprint without incurring expansion costs, this is very important in the face of the on-going discussions on the NSSF Amendment bill that seeks to make social security mandatory to all 16Million working Ugandans.”

Mr Byarugaba went on to assure that savers’ money will be secure as well as their data.

The service, he said will be implemented first by integrating with Agent Banking Uganda and Dfcu, which process has been concluded, and later integrating with all of the fund’s e-collection banks.

So far Byarugaba says all 300 Dfcu Agents are now ready to collect NSSF contributions, whereas the process of integrating the e-collection banks is on-going.

“Upon completion, over 10,000 bank agents will be able to receive contributions and register employers and employees with NSSF,” Byarugaba said.

On his part, Mathias Katamba, dfcu Bank’s CEO, said it was “an honour to be part of a partnership that will allow drive both digital and financial inclusion across Uganda, by combining the strengths of our individual platforms and services.”

“Over the years, dfcu has made tremendous investments to the development of systems and services that play a vital part in making access to financial services easier and affordable for our customers. One of these is our Agent Banking platform which now boasts of over 1,500 Agents,” he said.

He also noted that the partnership will allow dfcu Bank to drive its digital agenda to become as an institution at the forefront of shaping the digital transformation of the Banking industry
