A total of three people were yesterday killed in the NRM primary election violence in the western district of Isingiro, Police have revealed.
Two of the three victims were reportedly shot dead by security officers while the third was lynched by a mob.
Rwizi regional Police spokesman Samson Kasasira told ChimpReports last night that in one of the incidents, one Wilber Kabandiho was shot dead by a UPDF officer.
The incident happened at around 3pm in the afternoon at Katuragye in Isingiro town council.
The 26-year-old according to Kasasira was shot in the fracas that erupted after the presiding officer at the polling station refused to declare who had won the said centre and wanted to take off with the result papers.
As the crowd tried prevent him from leaving, one of the UPDF officers at the station fired shots killing Wilber.
“Police has apprehended Private Katikiro Siddi, a one Kivumbi and a one Mudogo to establish who exactly discharged the bullet and who deployed them at that particular polling station,” Kasasira said.
In the same district, at Rugaga Trading Center, a 19-year-old was gunned down at around 8 pm.
The deceased was identified as Bright Musa who hailed from Kisoro district.

Meanwhile Rwakakwenda parish Kabuyanda sub county in Town Council, still in Isingiro district a 20-year-old man was battered to death by a crowd when he allegedly tried to interfere with the election process
“The suspects are known and police is tracking them so that they are prosecuted in courts of law,” Kasasira said.
