National Resistance Movement party leaders in Rubanda District have begun to drum up locals in the district to support President Museveni’s sole candidate proposal.
The NRM parliamentary caucus and the Central Executive Committees recently endorsed the proposal, paving way for President Museveni to contest in 2021 General Elections.
The move by NRM to ring-fence the position of party presidential flag bearer for Mr Museveni followed a similar resolution by the national association of districts and lower local government councils under the Uganda Local Government’s Association who met in Kyankwanzi in mid-February
During the meeting with Rubanda district leaders at the council hall on Tuesday Henry Ariganyira Musasizi the Rubanda county East MP advised the People of Rubanda district to continue supporting President Museveni for putting them on the national agenda in development.
Musasizi says that Uganda to attain the middle income status it needs to be stable and that that stability has to come from good leadership.
He said the NRM caucus and members of CEC agreed that as the party doesn’t need another flag bearer for the Presidency in 2021.
“We were in Kanyankwazi and we discussed a number of things including service delivery especially education, works, electricity and health but most important to achieve all these aspirations we need to have a stable country as stability comes from the leadership,” the MP said.
“Therefore in the wisdom of the caucus and members of CEC we agreed that we don’t need another flag bearer. President Museveni will remain our flag bearer”
