Dr Tanga Odoi, the Chairperson of National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission has extended the Nyabushozi party primary elections which were scheduled for today, to tomorrow.
“The NRM Electoral Commission hereby informs you that due to unavoidable circumstances, the residual elections slated for Wednesday 14th October 2020 has been postponed to Thursday 15th October 2020,” Odoi wrote to the candidates.
The contenders in this constituency include Wilson Kajwengye, Christopher Bakashaba and Col Fred Mwesigye the incumbent.
Mwesigye had been declared the winner of the party ticket in the elections whose results were later on nullified due to irregularities
Rtd Col Fred Mwesigye through his lawyers of Okello Oryem and Company Advocates wrote to Odoi informing him that he is the legally known NRM flag bearer for Nyabushozi and was not ready to participate in any other process regarding the revision of his current position.
He warned that if the party proceeds with the electoral process aimed at overturning his victory, he will be forced to drag them to courts of law
