The Central Executive Committee of the National Resistance Movement is scheduled to convene on Friday at State House Entebbe to deliberate and decide on the National Delegates Conference.
The Delegates Conference, highest decision making organ of the party that was slated to convene from August 7 to 8, 2020, was on Tuesday evening postponed to August 18, 2020.
A letter sent by President Yoweri Museveni, who is also the National Chairperson of NRM, to all CEC members on Wednesday evening said the meeting shall kick start at 1:00pm.
“Notice is hereby given that a meeting of the Central Executive of the National Resistance Movement Organization will be held on Friday, August 7, at State House Entebbe commencing at 1:00pm,” said part of the letter.
The ruling party top bosses are expected to receive a report from the Secretary General, Justin Kasule Lumumba on the Secretariat’s preparation to organize the delegates’ conference meeting.
“The meeting shall consider the following agenda: Prayers; Communication from the National Chairman; Report of the Secretary General on the preparation for the Extraordinary Meetings of the third National Delegates Conference,” concluded the letter.
The coming conference is meant to elect CEC members to fill 9 top positions in the party including; the Party chairperson, first national vice chairperson, the second national vice chairperson (female) and the six regional vice chairpersons were slated for this Friday, August 7 and August 8.
The positions are currently held by President Museveni, the national chairperson; Moses Kigongo, first national vice chairperson and Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga is the second national vice chairperson.
The regional vice chairpersons are; Capt Mike Mukula for Eastern region, Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Matayo Kyaligonza for Western region, Sam Engola for Northern region, Abdul Nadduli for Central region, Godfrey Nyakana for Kampala region and Simon Peter Aleper for Karamoja region.
