No Issue With Our Debit, Credit Cards – Dfcu Clarifies on Fake Reports

Dfcu Bank has come out to dismiss reports that started circulating this week that the bank’s plastic payment cards were being rejected.

The reports, which the bank says are fake news, were being shared mostly on WhatsApp claiming that dfcu Cards couldn’t be used at Point of Sale (POS) machines.

Contacted for comment about the reports, Dfcu’s Chief of Business and Executive Director William Sekabembe said in a text message: “Not true, of course.”

“dfcu Visa Cards are accepted at all Visa outlets – Point of Sales and ATMs across the world,” the bank said in a statement later on Friday.

“dfcu Debits Cards can be used for Online (eCommerce) payments once activated for this service…the message being circulated should be disregarded.”

The bank advised customers experiencing any glitch with their cards to contact dfcu on Toll free 0800 222 000 or visit the nearest dfcu Branch to have their Online (eCommerce) service activated.

The bank’s operations and top management have in recent years suffered a sustained negative digital media campaign.

Officials say the bank has been targeted in an attempt to damage its reputation, destabilise the banking sector and the economy in general.
