The Ministry of Energy and Mineral development has dismissed claims made by residents of Kiraira village in Kitoba sub-county, seek http://changescale.org/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar%202/src/admin-views/create-organizer-fields.php Hoima district, prescription http://cdcsmiles.com/wp-admin/includes/class-plugin-upgrader.php that government discovered oil deposits in the area.
The residents claim that officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral development conducted seismic studies in the area in 2013 and confirmed the discovery of oil deposits.
David Mwebembezi, order the Kiraira village chairman said officials from the Ministry of Energy early this year advised the residents to prepare for relocation.
He added that the officials said government was going to start the compensation process in 2014.
The chairman said no more information has been given to them since then in regards to compensation and this has left residents in fear of sudden eviction.
Kabagambe Kaliisa, the Permanent secretary in the ministry of energy revealed that though commercial oil deposits were confirmed in the Albertine grabben, they have not surveyed any other areas in Hoima nor has the ministry made any pronouncement of oil deposits in other areas of Hoima.
Kabagambe advised residents to be cautious of masqueraders claiming to be officials from the ministry of energy. He said the perpetrators are interested in grabbing people’s land.
