Uganda Airlines has come out to dismiss as false reports that emerged this week about the grounding of one of its two aircraft.
The reports that spread on social media since yesterday, which the national carrier is calling “malicious” claimed that one of the Bombardier CRJ900 developed a “serious mechanical fault” and that passengers had to be evacuated and the flight cancelled.
The airline clarified in a statement on Friday however, that both aircraft needed to undergo “routine maintenance in accordance with the systems and regulations of the Uganda Civil Aviation Aauthority.”
“Routine maintenance is mandatory and will be upheld as required to ensure maximum safety of our passengers and seamless operations of all our Aircraft,” the airline said in the statement.
“Uganda Airlines would like to assure all its customers, stakeholders and the general public that the Airline operations are happening as per earlier communicated schedule.”
