Pool players Ritah Nimusiima and Mansoor Bwanika have on Monday been voted as the best sports personalities for the month of October.
Sports journalists under their umbrella body, Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) voted the duo as the most excelling athletes in the month of October.
The voting took place on Monday at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala during USPA’s monthly meeting.
Nimusiima encrypted her name as the first ever female National Open Pool Champion winning the maiden edition.
The CKI player defeated teenager Rashidah Muteesi to drive home in a brand new Toyota Raum plus a cash prize of one million shillings from Nile Special who are also the sponsors of USPA monthly awards.
On the other hand,,Bwanika also a player with CKI edged past Simon Lubuurwa to emerge the winner in the men’s category.
The pair collected a total of 610 votes to beat Singo football team and kick boxer Umar Ssemata to the award.
Singo defeated Buddu in the finals of this year’s Masaza Cup final while Ssemata overcame motor mouthed Moses Golola in a non title fight at Freedom City.
Every month, sports journalists convene and vote the best athlete/sports personality or team that excelled in the previous month.
