American pop star icon Beyonce Knowles is set to drop her highly anticipated ‘Lion King’ inspired new album later this week.
To build anticipation for the new studio effort that she described as ‘a love letter to Africa,’ the ‘Drunk In Love’ singer released its art cover and track list on Tuesday 16.
African singers particularly from Nigeria are heavily featured on the 14-track album that Beyonce says she solely produced.
Among the singers featured include Burna Boy (‘Ja Ara E’ with Beyonce), Wizkid (‘Brown Skin Girl’ with Blue Ivy Carter, Beyoncé, and Saint Jhn), Davido, Tiwa Savage, Mr. Eazi, Tekno and Yemi Alade (‘Don’t Jealous Me’) and Tiwa Savage among others.
Speaking to ABC about the soundtrack, Beyonce said, “I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa. Not just use some of the sounds and do my interpretation of it.
She continued, “This soundtrack is a love letter to Africa. I wanted it to be authentic about what is beautiful about the music in Africa,”
Other African singers featured in the album include; Busiswa, Moonchild Sanelly, Salatiel and Shatta Wale.
‘The Lion King: The Gift’ album will premiere on Friday, July 19.
