NGO Boss Accused of Defiling Street Children Remanded


Kabale Grade One Magistrates court on Friday charged and remanded the Director of a local NGO, Educate Street Children Uganda, who is accused of sexually abusing street children under his care.

Junior Set Tukwasibwe, was remanded to Ndorwa government prison after being charged with 13 counts of rape, aggravated defilement, aggravated trafficking in children and operating a children’s home without a license.

Kabale Resident State Attorney Gloria Inzikuru told court presided His Worship John Kavuma Mugaaga, that Tumwakire in 2015, received and harbored four underage girls (names withheld), and through exploiting their vulnerability, sexually abused them.

Tukwasibwe was also charged with indecent assault against two other girls whom he allegedly touched their breasts, private parts and kissed them against their will.

He was also accused of operating an unapproved children’s home contrary to Sections 56, 66 and 109 of the Children’s Act.

The suspect was not allowed to take a plea on the charges read to him, being capital in nature and only triable by High Court.

Proscutor Gloria Inzikuru told court that investigations in all the cases are still ongoing and asked to allow them time to finalize.


Magistrate Kavuma adjourned the case till 26th April 2019 when it will come up for mention.
