Newly Ordained Priests Asked to Work With Government

The Bishop of East Ruwenzori Diocese in Kamwenge district, Rev. George K Turyasingura on Sunday ordain 8 deacons and four priests in the diocese.

Bishop Turyasingura was consecrated on 7th, January 2018 and this was his second service as Bishop of East Rwenzori Diocese.

The ordained priests are; Rev. Benjamin Muhereza, Nicholas Bagambe, Moses Dakitari, Lauben Kwesiga, Frank Nkamwebonera, Herbert Yanzara, Rodgers Nimwesiga and Frank Bataringaya.

The deacons are; Francis Baraba, David Bamukugize, Moses Mujuni and Naume Bright.

Bishop Turyasingura asked the deacons, who were posted in the Service of Christ and those who that were transferred to new places to always visit Christians, pray for the sick and needy such that the work of Jesus can be glorified.

Meanwhile during the sermon, Rtd. Bishop Geoffrey Rwobusisi asked Christians to pray for the country, so that that God will maintain the existing peace.

Speaking during the service, the Kamwenge LC5 chairman Aggrey Natuhamya urged the new priests to work hand in hand with government of Uganda it is various development programs.

He asked them together with other religious leaders to preach to people to become loyal and patriotic to the government.


“Teach them to love their leaders from LCI to the president, respecting other human, since we are all equal before God” he said

The district chair said the religious leaders should not only focus on spiritual change but also behavioral change.

He said if church doesn’t promote unity, it will be difficult for government to lead the people.

“You have been teaching people to love God, also teach them to love their government and other people.”
