New Health State Minister to Focus On Preventable Diseases

The Ministry of Health on Monday evening welcomed the newly appointed state minister for Health, who replaces the outgoing Health State Minister Sarah Opendi who was moved to the Ministry of Energy.

Nabanda was officially welcomed by the full Health Minister Jane Aceng that was retained in the position.

She will start her official duties today despite Minister Opendi not officially handing over to her as she was away on other duties.

The official handover will take place next week when the minister comes back.

In her remarks, Minister Nebanda said she will put her energy in sensitising the public on health living and disease prevention which can help in eradicating 75% of all diseases in Uganda.

“I come in at a time when things are already moving forward in the ministry. My work will be to energise and mobilize resources for health campaigns like immunization, health living activities like encouraging the public to exercise, eat less fatty foods but also strengthen the relationship between the ministry and local governments” she said

In her welcoming remarks, Minister Aceng said the ministry was thrilled to have Minister Nabanda and she will bring to the team get strong mobilizing skills.

“We gladly welcome you to the ministry and promise to offer you all the support you need to do your work properly,” she said


The new Minister together with Minister Aceng will start their duties by meeting the parliamentary committee about the 2020/2021 budget
