Uganda national women’s team, the She Cranes, can either finish 7th or 8th in this year’s Netball World cup currently taking place in London, England.
This is after the team, which had just failed to qualify for the semi-finals, failed to tame their African sisters, Malawi, on Friday in a placing match. They lost 55-44.
She Cranes captain, Peace Proscovia had the best conversion rate of 100% when she scored 24 goals in as many attempts but, unfortunately, could not match Malawi’s Joyce Mvula.
Mvula converted 38 of the 43 chances she got to compliment to Jane Chamaliro’s 17 goals as the Malawians.
The Malawians were the better side in three of the four quarters winning 12-9, 15-10 and 14-9 in the first, second and fourth as Uganda put up a better show in only the third quarter where they won 14-16.
The loss means that the Sha Cranes drop to fight for the seventh position against Zimbabwe on Monday.
The Zimbabweans lost 47-77 to Jamaica in the other playoff.
