Uganda National senior netball team, the She Cranes have given their word – And when stars speak, we just sit and listen.
The team was on Wednesday flagged off to Zambia for the Africa Netball Championship.
The six day championship starts on August 13th, and will also act as the World Cup qualifiers.
The Netball World cup is set for next year in Liverpool, England. With four slots required from Africa, two are still up for grabs as South Africa and Namibia qualified automatically by virtue of their International rankings.
The top two teams from the Zambia tourney, will join Namibia and South Africa to represent the dark continent.
Uganda will face Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Zimbabwe and host Zambia for the African crown.
It should be remembered that Uganda are the defending champions after winning this championships last year in an event held at Lugogo.
What they said:
Head coach Vicent Kiwanuka – We are going out there to compete, so we will need the country’s prayers. Am certain that we are going triumph after having all these preparations.
We are on going for three missions: To defend our crown, qualify for the World Cup and beat Malawi so as we become the second ranked side in Africa (sixth in the world).
Team Captain Peace Proscovia – We are a well determined team. The players are very experienced, we have been together for some good time which may be key for us out there.
We have worked hard, and am sure that we will get a World Cup slot.
