A1 Challenge 51-55 JKL Lady Dolphins
Jamila ‘Zama’ Nansikombi was the protagonist as JKL Lady Dolphins wobbled past A1 Challenge in the National Basketball League (NBL).
JKL won the encounter 51-55 at YMCA Court in Wandegeya.
Zama who played 38 minutes on court, shot 7-14 on the field, converted 9/14 on the free-throw line but missed all her four attempts outside the three point arc on her way to a game high 23 points.
Zama also added five steals on her impressive stats on the evening.
It should be remembered that Zama had scored 28 points on Sunday as JKL battered Angels 86-46 in Mukono.
Overall in the league this season, she has collected 185 points, fifth on most points tally behind Brenda Ekon (Nkumba), Brenda Aujat (KIU), Judith Nansobya (KCCA) and Jane Asinde (Magic Stomers).
It was a quiet day for JKL who shot 17-64, but the question of inefficiency will go unanswered as the attempt was just enough to edge A1 challenge.
A1 looked pumped up for the occasion when they led 19-14 after the first ten minutes before leading 29-23 at halftime.
JKL won the third quarter 12-15 to reduce the gap to three points and the table leaders could go on to win the last quarter 10-17 to clinch their double on A1. JKL had won the first round tie 48-40 on June 17.
The victory is the fourth for JKL in a row since their only loss this season. JKL lost 57-60 to KCCA. JKL has now won 14 out of 15 games to extend their lead at the top.
On the evening, Stella Nikuze and Charline Kirungi scored 14 and 9 points for A1. Stella Nanfuka, Ruth Kirungi and Susan Amito contributed 8 points each.
This was A1’s fourth defeat of the season. The side has 11 wins.
JKL will play UCU on Saturday as A1 takes on Javon Ladies on Sunday, all games at YMCA Court.
