UCU Lady Canons eased past A1 Challenge in a National Basketball League game played at YMCA Court in Wandegeya, Kampala.
The Mukono team won 64-43 in a game that never lived to the hype.
Leading by just two points at halftime (26-24), Nicholas Natuhereza’s side scored 24 points and limited A1 to just five (5) points to extend their lead to 21 points. Both sides shared spoils in the last quarter 14-14, for UCU to walk away with a deserved victory.
Rose Akon scored a double double of 12 points and as many rebounds, Vilma Achieng and Zainah Lokwameri had 10 and 15 points respectively.
Elizabeth Akol scored 15 points for A1 Challenge in a losing effort. Stella Nikuze shot 0-10 on the field, Susan Amito managed just six (6) points on the day A1 will love to forget – The team shot 17-65 on the field.
This, is A1 Challenge’s fourth loss in a row – A1 had lost to Javon, JKL and KCCA. Their last win came on July 29th against Magic Stomers.
A1 will play their last game on Sunday against UMU Ravens.
UCU will have to wait before they play their last game against KCCA Leopards.
Elsewhere, KIU Titans defeated Ndejje Angels 79-86. Michael Bwanga and Denis Balungu scored 23 and 20 points in that order.
KCCA men lost 69-68 to fellow relegation strugglers UPDF.
