NBL Playoffs: City Oilers Defeat Power In Game Four

Wednesday, October 10

Betway Power 72-83 City Oilers

City Oilers proved their dominance as they pummeled Betway Power to take game four of the best of seven finals series.

Oilers won 83-72 in a game played at the MTN Indoor Arena in Lugogo.

The defending Champions now lead the series 3-1 and will look to seal their sixth championship with a win on Sunday.

Oilers led the first quarter 20-15 but Power managed to restore parity to take the second quarter 26-24.

Mandy Juruni’s charges who played without an injured Jonathan Egau, won the third and last quarters 14-12 and 25-19 despite tough resistance from the Betway sponsored club.

Oilers’ Stephen Omony was the star of the day. The veteran forward who shot 8-14 on the field, posted 11 points in the first half on his way to a game high 22 points.

Tony Drilleba also rose to the occasion with 18 points, Ben Komakech added 13 points and 6 assists on his good display for Oilers.

Power had Paul Odong score 21 points as Phillip Ameny managed a double double of 11 points and as many rebounds. Geoffrey Soro made 12 points in a losing effort.

In a game that was marred by doubtable calls from the day’s refs Mariam Birungi, Brian Ssebaluma and William Odong, Betway Power will have themselves to blame as the side lacked efficiency – Power shot 25-65 on the field with Ikong making just 3-16 on a tough evening they will want to forget.
