NBL: JKL Lady Dolphins Stun Gladiators

Sunday July 16

JKL Lady Dolphins 72-27 Gladiators

Nkumba Lady Marines 57-43 Stormers

It was a one way avenue game as JKL Lady Marines outclassed Gladiators in the Ladies National Basketball league on Sunday at the YMCA outdoor court in Wandegeya.

With Stella Oyella returning to JKL’s roster after missing out on a couple of games due to her duty with the young Uganda Netball side, the She pearls, in Botswana – Henry Malinga’s side looked better before the start.

The Dolphins imposed dominance from the start and went on to limit the Gladiators to only 2 points in the second quarter of the game before losing by a 45 point margin.

Jamilah Nansikombi led the massacre by 16 points as Henry Malinga’s Dolphins opened the Sunday face-off with a heavy victory.

In the other game of the day, Brenda Ekon hooped in 25 points to guide Nkumba Lady Marines past Magic Stormers by 57-43.

Shakira Nanvubya scored 16 points for John Omondi’s Stormers but it was not enough to stop Julius Lutwama’s Mariners from taking the deserved win.

Stormers who had won their first 4 league matches have now lost 3 consecutive games with UCU lady Canons and A1 challenge still on their menu.

The league returns this Wednesday with both Men and Women teams from Nkumba and UCU facing off at YMCA court.
