KCCA 63-73 City Oilers
City Oilers managed to overcome KCCA Panthers in a 63-73 victory in a National Basketball League (NBL) regular season game played at YMCA Court in Wandegeya, Kampala.
The victory cleans Oilers’ wounds left behind by the humiliating 79-94 defeat against KIU Titans last Friday.
Oilers led 12-25 and 15-21 in the order of the first two quarters to open up a 19 point lead at halftime.
Under the stewardship of Brian Waters, KCCA won the third quarter 23-11 to reduce the deficit to just seven points at the end of the third quarter.
Inside the last ten minutes, KCCA came close as they trailed by two points at one stage but their comeback couldn’t be completed as the defending champions won 13-16 to seal a 63-73 victory.
James Okello scored 21 points, Landry Ndikumana contributed a double double of 15 points and 10 rebounds as Josh Johnson added 9 points in the victory.
Brian Waters who played the entire 40 minutes, contributed 21 points in an impressive display. Andrew Gang and Emma Odongkara scored 10 and 11 points respectively.
City Oilers has now beaten up on KCCA twice in the regular season – The defending champions had won 84-50 on June 3rd.
The victory is the fifteen for the Oilers, level with KIU Titans but both sides are still two victories below leaders Betway Power who has played one game more.
KCCA who have won six games will return to action this Saturday against Sharing Youth. City Oilers will also face off with UPDF on the same day.
