Basketball ruling body in the county – Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) has called-off the league games that were meant to be played on Friday, August 17th.
The development comes due to the unavailablility of the YMCA Court, where the games were to be played.
This was confirmed by a statement received by this website: “To all our stakeholders, the venues YMCA and Lugogo will not be available this Friday..”
The affected games that were to be played on Friday include Betway Power Vs UCU Canons and Pemba Warriors Vs Our Saviour.
The games have been rescheduled to Sunday, August 26th, as confirmed from the FUBA statement – “and as a result, the games shall be played on Sunday 26th. We apologise for any inconveniences..”
Also, the tie between UCU Lady Canons and KCCA Leopards will be played on the same day.
The UCU-KCCA game which is initially scheduled on Saturday 19th August, has been called off because of the absence of KCCA coaches Ali Mavita and Albert Aciko who are with the Junior Gazelles at the ongoing FIBA U18 Championship in Maputo, Mozambique.
The rescheduling comes as good news to the UCU teams, which had earlier written to FUBA to have some of these games postponed as the players get ample time for their University exams.
This, however, will see the regular season end on August 26th not 25th as earlier scheduled.
The playoffs are set to start on Friday, August 31st.
UCU Lady Canons (three in a row) and City Oilers (five in a row) are the league defending champions for the Women and Men categories.
Action resumes this weekend with six games to be played on Saturday at YMCA

Nkumba Lady Marines Vs Javon Ladies

UPDF Tomahawks Vs KCCA Panthers
Ndejje Angels Vs KIU Titans
