Betway Power extended their lead at the top with a 53-85 victory over UPDF Tomahawks, in one of the six National Basketball League games played at UCU Courts in Mukono.

It should be remembered that this game was rescheduled from Saturday following a blackout at KIU court in Kansanga.

The game that was played under intense heat saw the table toppers drive 14-21, 16-25, 14-14 and 9-25 in order of the quarters to seal a dominant victory.

Suleiman Bbale was the unlikely hero after grabbing a double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds. Juma Anin scored 14 points, Athiu Madol and Geoffrey Soro contributed 11 and 10 points each.

Power made 33 of 73 shots on the field on their way to a 17th victory of the season. The side has now won four games in a row since their 57-65 loss to City Oilers on July 20th.

Next for Power is a big game against Pemba Warriors this Friday (August 8th) at YMCA.

Trailing 46-42 going into the last quarter, Nicholas Natuhereza’s turned the tables against Walker Obedi as the Canons won at home, against a resilient Ndejje Angles.

Isiko Derrick and Fadhil Chuma scored 19 and 17 points for the Mukono based team.

The victory elevates the Canons way up to fifth, with 9 wins. This is the fourth victory for UCU in a row since the 60-63 defeat to KIU Titans.

JKL Teams Flourish

Playing on a familiar court, JKL players eased past Charging Rhino with a powerful 84-63 win over Rhino.

Despite missing Ivan Lumanyika on the team, Yesman Bushiri (17), Brian Namake (16), Ferdinand Odama (14) and Libe Makala (12) reached double point figures.

The sister team, JKL Lady Dolphins also routed Angels Basketball club 46-86 following a good start that saw the victors lead 5-28 after the first ten minutes.

It was not a shock in a master Vs apprentice game as Mandy Juruni (JKL) and Tommy Drilleba (Angels) faced off.

Jamila Nansikombi scored a game high 28 points, Stella Oyella added 12 before Peace Nakirijja and Hope Akello contributed 11 and 10 points.

Lean Nalunkuma who was playing against her former masters managed 15 points for Drilleba’s coached team.
