Angels 48-84 UCU Lady Canons
Sarah Ageno and Vilma Achieng were the two stars as UCU Lady Canons overcame Angels Basketball Club.
UCU won 48-84 in a National Basketball League (NBL) Ladies game played at YMCA Court in Wandegeya, Kampala.
Ageno scored a double double of 16 points and as many rebounds, before adding five (5) assists to her tally. Vilma who had missed a couple of games, came back with another statement as he scooped a double double of 17 points and 14 rebounds.
Rose Akon also contributed a double double of 12 points and 15 rebounds. Esther Akwap added 11 points in the victory.
UCU who made 34 of the 64 shots on the field, led 8-21 after the first quarter before taking a 28-41 at the long break. UCU won 12-15 and 8-28 in order of the next quarters to seal a dominant victory.
Irene Nalunkuma was the only bright spot for Angels with a 17 point haul. Sumine Nabatanzi contributed 7 points.
UCU who was coming from a 52-55 loss to title rivals JKL, have now 14 games from 17 attempts. The Mukono team are currently second on the log.
Next for Nicholas Natuhereza’s side are two tough ties against A1 Challenge and KCCA Leopards.
Angels on the hand, have now lost 12 games with five victories. The new comers are third from the bottom.
