The National Day of Physical activities is back with the second edition, aimed at beating non communicable diseases like High blood pressure, diabetes and others.
The day, which was launched by President Yoweri Museveni last year was a big success according to Ministry of Health officials, as thousands turned up.
This year, the national day of physicals activities will be held on Sunday 14th July 2019 at Kololo Independence grounds.
According to Minister Jane Ruth Aceng, the theme of the day will be “My health, My Responsibility.”
The Minister says the president is expected to join thousands of Ugandans on this day.
“I urge all Ugandans to have interest in such activities since they are key in maintain a healthy life. All Ugandans should pick interest in maters of health, keep fit and avoid NCDs.”
The day was set aside to inform the population about the importance of physical activity, its relevance in preventing non communicable diseases and keeping healthy.
Currently 40 percent of deaths are due to non communicable diseases with 13 percent as accident cases, 9 percent heart diseases, 5 percent cancer deaths, 3 percent diabetes and 10 percent sickle cells.
