Noel Nasasira encrypted his name in history books as the player who scored the lone goal that guided Ndejje University FC to winning the FUFA Big League title and promotion to the top tier league. He scored in the final against Nyamityobora FC
The University side had spent close to a decade in the FUFA Big League and was one of the teams that played in the maiden season in 2009 but were not lucky to gain promotion until this year.
The aforementioned statistics thus were satisfying enough to have Nasasira named the best player.
The striker who is on loan from KCCA FC was named the Most Valuable Player in the FUFA Big League (2017/18) on Friday night during the FUFA Awards gala held at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
Nasasira couldn’t hide his delight after winning the award but gave credit to his teammates and the coaching staff at Ndejje University FC.
” I’m happy to win this award and it means a lot to me a player. I want to thank my teammates and coaches because we achieved this as a unit. I was new at the club but they welcomed me well and quickly adapted to the environment which helped me perform well.” He said.
The award came with a cash prize of four million shillings from FUFA. It should also be noted that he also got one million when they won the trophy in June.
Besides the cash prize, Nasasira also received a Plasma television set courtesy of Bet Lion, the official Uganda Cranes betting partner.
He thanked Bet Lion for the TV and stated that he will be able to watch games especially the local league.
” I thank Bet Lion for the TV. I will now be able to watch more games including the local league in the convenience of my house. ” said a jolly Nasasira.
was promoted from KCCA FC Junior team but because he was not getting enough playing time, he sought for a loan at Ndejje University FC on a two year agreement as he pursues his studies as well.
