There was drama in Kayunga District over the weekend as former ICT state Minister Aida Nantaba fled a campaign meeting after angry residents attempted to beat her, accusing her for not doing anything for them as area MP.
Ms Nantaba had organised a campaign meeting in Bubajjwe B Village, Kayunga Sub County. She then informed them that she had disappeared from them since her re-election in 2016 because “mafias” wanted to kill her.
“My people I thank you for your prayers because an assassin Sebulime wanted to kill me ,but because of God’s grace I survived,” Ms Nantaba said.
The remarks did not go down well with the residents, who asked her to tell them what she had done for them in the ten years she has been woman MP.
“Go away don’t fool us, you have taken us for granted for a long time,” Mr Ali Kizito said, one of the residents ,shouted
The heavily guarded Ms Nantaba entered her car and was whisked away.
Mr Moses Sande, an area resident blamed the MP for forgetting her voters.
Ms Nantaba refused to pick our repeated calls.
